Letter from the Jehovah's Witnesses

Had a random, hand written letter through the post earlier from the Jehovah's Witnesses. Is this a new thing? Do I need to chain the dog up? Noticed a bit of white paint outside, although it could be bird st to be fair.

They have to spend a certain amount of time doing their ministry work, and they can't bang on doors just now, so they spend that time writing letters instead.

Whether you like JW's or not, at least they're trying to do something positive.

I had a letter and thought it was nice that somebody actually bothered.

I'm in no doubt that trying to recruit new victims is not doing something positive.

Same here I noticed prior to lockdown(s).

We had a letter a few months ago, went in the bin.

It's a miracle. Jesus makes them pretty as a reward to the men for the faith. Or some such ballocks.

Well, I didn't read anything in the letter that suggested that If I didn't turn up a heavily armed team would be despatched to my address.

Presumably, we can just, no?

Some Jehovahs Witnesses and Mormons just don't get the message. A lot of them seem to see you are a project they can convert. I'm an atheist so they usually just feel offended and go away when I tell them.

However I know some people that got a knock at the door and said ' I'm busy now, I'm not really interested', and then same time the next day they called again. Then the next week they were back again with a friend to double the effort.

Although I find the concept of religion utterly bizarre I don't have a problem with anyone practising their chosen religion What really gets my goat is when they pray on vulnerable people or people at their lowest point and try to convert them under the guise of charity.

Although I do know a friend who met a 'sister' on a mission from Brazil with the Church of Latter Day Saints. She was doing more binge drinking and bed-hopping than anything else.

The letter may well have been pleasant, but ultimately all they care about is recruiting victims.

Do not think for one minute they are doing this to be nice, or as some act of kindness.

I had a few "encounters" with a young lady who's family were jehova's witnesses, it was a secret thing because they were not to know unless I was prepared to join up.

I almost did join because at the time she was by far and away the most attractive and enthusiastic girlfriend I had been involved with.

I am not religious in the slightest and I was not prepared to fake such a belief even though she was fit and went like a train.

Shame really, I liked her.
