Hi all,

Several times when selling on ebay I have had the buyers address come up in this format

Buyer name
Buyer street
"ebay19tptgc" - or similar
Buyer town
Buyer postcode

Can anyone explain to me what the code in the middle is about?

I've been wondering myself. I read about it a while ago in an eBay announcement and I'm still non the wiser.

Ah I think I understand.

When the post office input the address into their system, that code allows ebay to identify the parcel and link it to the royal mail tracking number.

In short it gives the buyer tracking info

I had something like this on an eBay package this week. I never thought much of it until I read this thread.

If the buyer selects click and collect and you have to send it to a shop they may refuse the delivery if it doesn't have that ebayer ID on it and it will get returned to you. I kinda saw it as an optional part of the address but it isn't in some cases.
