Vantage shocks removal

Has anyone removed their shocks and springs? If so the manual for the rears says remove the lower arm and the handbrake caliper which I assume is to make room to get the unit out. Is this really necessary or can you wriggle it out with them still in place?

Pretty sure I didn’t remove them when doing mine last year

IIRC you have to release inner end of top arm at front, to get clearance. Easy job to then remove strut. Not done rears.

For those interested yes you do have to move the handbrake calliper out of the way so you can undo the track arm from the hub. This gives enough movement to get the shock out.

Very easy for those who can wield a spanner and the rear doesn't require torqueing up with the car weight on it....unlike the front
