Making my exhaust quieter

My DBS has had the secondary cats removed with AM cat delete pipes and an aftermarket back box fitted (it looks like quicksilver but no visible markings) and it’s just too loud. I wouldn’t mind it being louder than standard but it almost sounds like it has a straight through exhaust on it. Would changing back to a standard back box but keeping the decat pipes leave it louder than standard or alternatively would just putting the secondary cats back make it quieter?

Yes. For many people just a secondary cat delete is enough extra volume, especially with exhaust valves open.

Fit a standard back box and it will still be louder than stock and enough for most people.

I’ve got a back box so I’ll give it a try. Does anyone know what fuse controls the valves on a 2011 DBS?

I know it used to be fuse 22, in fact this was my first ever post on PH https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=11...
But I had a feeling it had moved on later cars, I’ll check the manual

I believe it’s fuse 22 on yours (it moved to fuse 15 on later cars), but it controls a flap system on the standard backbox. I would be very surprised if the Quicksilver exhaust has a similar system - this will be why the fuse being present won’t make a difference.

I’d suggest going back to an oem backbox which will give you back the silencer valves. You’ll then have the option of leaving them working or taking the fuse out to have them always open (likely to be quieter than your current setup).

If it’s still too loud, you then have the option to fit 200 cell/oem cats.
