Economical vehicle suggestions please! C-HR?

My wife has decided she wants a new car. Her commute is 35 miles each way 4 times a week through country roads where there only traffic she encounters is Pheasants and Deers.
She’s currently got a Yeti dsg 4x4 and it’s getting early 40’s on the commute. She wants something more economical. She ideally wants electric, but there’s no charge point at work and I don’t think for our budget it’ll work out?
Ideally it won’t be much smaller than the yeti as it’s the family wagon also - we often load the bikes in the boot or the dogs.
We had a quick forecourt look at a C-HR yesterday which looked ok. She liked the look of the new Corolla but the boot isn’t big enough (she doesn’t like estates either!).
The budget is up to £20k, what else are we missing?

Long term average around 55mpg with mixed use is easily achievable.
Not sure about dogs in the boot though...the rear hatch is steeply raked so the dogs would have to be reasonably small.
on country roads ? We went from a 2.0l Superb to a Prius on a very similar commute 25 miles each way country road. The Skoda did 44mpg and the Prius 49mpg on average although both could be significantly better on different roads Not sure about dogs in the boot though...the rear hatch is steeply raked so the dogs would have to be reasonably small.
The current CHR has the same running gear as our Lexus UX (The old one shared the same as the Prius) , we find the UX is similar on fuel to the 2.0 diesel VAG on the commute and cant match the economy of the 1.8 engine

Prius + ? The Yeti is a pretty good all round package to be fair , how about the Karoq ? liner33 said:

I’ll have a look, thank you or the suggestions.This is our 2nd yeti as both times they were hard to beat, but they’re a 12+ year old design/engines and things have changed so was interested to see what, if anything to consider.

The poster hasn't - you're missing the point that you'll never recoup your fuel savings unless the car genuinely needs replacing.shiversaint said:

No, I get that.However my wife wants a new car, one which is more fuel efficient than her current car, hence the question. The yeti may or may not be knackered and knocking on a scrappies door, or she may just fancy a change.
