Wait time for retention certificate and V5 for old car

Has anyone put their number plate on retention recently, I sent off via post as could not be done online. I have someone that wants to buy my car and I’m good to go once I have received the v5 and retention certificate for my personalised number plate. Has anyone done this recently is it taking long?

Ages, a good 6 weeks

It says 2 weeks on DVLA site, is this due to Covid, is this what you have experience lately

Did mine last week, took about 2 weeks.

Ah great, do you know how many days it did take was it over or under two weeks I have a buyer asking when he’s liking to be able to have my car. Thanks for your help

From memory, door to door was 15 days in total. I was in a similar situation to yourself with the sounds of it, when you’re waiting it seems to take ages.

Put my plate on retention a couple of weeks back, online admittedly but it and the v5 showing original plate came back within a week.

My brother did his and had the V5 back in less than a week, his new car V5 came at the same time so very fast.

I'm not sure how he initiated it but would do it online if you can.

Online service is 7am till 7pm.
Normal turn around for me has been about 5 days or less.
