£4-6k, reasonable car
Discussion
Tight requirements for a car that is newer than 2012 and has less than 70k on the clock. That gives you about 750 cars to choose from nationally at the moment.
I would recommend something like the Seat Leon.

Fits your criteria. Good to drive. Will be relatively cheap to maintain. They are robust and reliable. Well put together. Drive quite nicely (though the one i had was a 1.4 and only for a lease period). They are just as good as a golf but you won't pay the VW premium for the badge so therefore get slightly newer and in your budget and mileage requirements.
Its an option i would consider.

Many cars will need a cambelt change at that sort of age and mileage so factor that in, as has been said its good to have a decent criteria like you have but be willing to adapt based on what is available locally and condition of the cars.looking for a car, have fleshed out the rough requirements
