Over South Warwickshire I think, but could have been just into oxon or gloucestershire.

Twinkling light, appeared stationary, some way away no sound. If I concentrated I thought I could see navigation lights, red on my right so coming towards me.

Now the strange thing, it stayed stationary for over an hour, moved slightly east and stayed stationary for at least another 1/2 hr. (bored at this stage so went to bed) so between 22.00 and 23.30 last night.

We see the occasional air ambulance, or police helicopter but the length of time and lack of search light makes this unlikely I think.

With all the drones these days I’d suspect a drone doing night time photography/time lapse/video?

1hr is a long time but probably possible with a high end one.

Could have been a military or police helicopter practicing instrument only (IMC) hovering.

For an hour? How long do you need to stay in one place before the instructor says 'yeah, I think you've got the hang of that'?!

Depends on what is being taught and depends on how well the pupil is picking it up.

I’m not 100% sure, but believe that aliens don’t usually follow our regulations on navigation lights. So more likely to be of terrestrial origin I think.

Undoubtedly, hence my question.

Of course. Just as well to rule it out, or we’ll have nutters on here saying it’s extraterrestrial.
