Buying at a dealer - getting tax in the deal

Hello -

Is it possible for a dealer to tax a vehicle within screen price?

does this help them to keen money 'in the car'?

seem to be slightly contradictory stuff online

Rule appear to have changed a few years back

if i pay a 'screen price deal', on the proviso of 12 months tax - can the dealer put this on the car prior to transter?

or would it have to be done in my name, but paid for by them?

its a remote sale, so I wont be going to the dealer in person.

If I remember when I bought my car last year I'm sure I didn't have to tax the car separately. The dealer did the tax online while I was there to pick the car up. It's a while ago now so it's quite possible I did pay extra for it but I know it was done at the dealership. That was a used car by the way.

Dealers will want to tax the car before you drive it away.
Whether the cost for this is added to the screen price or is ‘thrown in’ depends on your negotiating skills and the keenness of the dealer to get a sale.

Well, i got it thrown into the deal (along with delivery) but the dealer was really reluctant to knock off the £475, but rather wanted the car sold at screen price, with him taxing it....(which it didn't look lke was possible) -
