Birmingham evacuation - parking tickets!

A letter to the council might sort things out. A bunch of us were done first thing on new-years morning, but they waived the tickets for those that wrote in (on the basis that it should have been a bank holiday).
They're sharp in Brum - was there again a couple of weekends ago (my brother lives there), and I watched them take notes on when each ticket expires. I went out to get another ticket five minutes before expiry, and they were already strolling down the road, ticket at the ready, just in case I was a minute late.
I wouldn't be surprised to find they're on commission, and will happily collect the cash from anyone who doesn't write in to object. Tossers.

Unbelievable. Having evacuated Birmingham on Saturday night, leaving some people's cars trapped in town, the boys were out there on Sunday morning, slapping tickets on them left, right and centre. Surely the courts would let people off who simply couldn't get back to their cars?
I was on Broadstreet on Saturday night was an interesting experience to say the least!
I was staying at the Burlington near New Street station which hasn't got a car park so I was parked in an NCP.
Something similar happened in Portsmouth a while ago (except without the bomb scare). Some sort of accident brought the whole city to a standstill, and people were forced to abandon their cars in the jams.
When they returned to them the next morning, they'd all been scammed by the traffic Nazi's. They were all cancelled, but only after the motorists appealed.
