Hi Guys,

Bought my 987 S from a guy with a Full porsche warranty, the seller was kind enough to make sure the car had major service done before selling the car back in November 2020 since then I done 1440Miles. I noticed this morning when the oil check finished, the meter was half full and Porsche gave me spare quart for free after the service, I filled it up around 450ML and when I went back to the car, read the oil measure it showed completely full to the brim (see pic). Am worried that I might have overfilled it, should i be worried?

Should be fine, measure it again in a different location and it might read differently.

Each time my car returned from the OPC after a service I had the same.

Would also add that there is no need to refill it at half way.

Thanks! So I should not be worried about an overfill?

If it was half way on the oil indicator when you filled it I wouldn't be too concerned about overfilling. The Cayman needs around 8 quarts total and you probably only filled about 1/2 a quart based on what you said.

Would keep a closer eye on oil consumption over the next few thousand miles (it really shouldn't shift much).

Did you park it on a flat road and was the car warm when you checked the oil levels?

I believe that each block is 400ml, so if you added 450ml when the gauge was at half then you are about on target. You are not in the realms of damaging overkill that could occur with a dry sump filled incorrectly.
