Odyssey PC925 ok for trickle charging??
Discussion
I have an Odyssey Extreme PC925 battery fitted in my boot. My question is are these batteries ok to be on a trickle charger??
As my battery charger seems never to reach full charge on trickle charger and recently got another trickle charger and had same issue. Touching battery it is warm and looks like it has swollen potentially.
I have no issues with the car starting or running. Any experience with these batteries or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

A trickle charger with an AGM charging mode is what your after starting from just 20 odd quid
This. The charger you are using is very probably not suited to AGM batteries, most modern ones from a certain price/quality level on will automatically detect AGM batteries and adapt their charging strategy accordingly. Well I have an Accumate charger but recently brought a Maypole, which has automatic detection and can select AGM.
I had the car on charge for days and both chargers never show full charge. Will look at the battery again tonight. The battery has never been flat and has had only light use.

I would be inclined to say that's been caused by incorrect charging over a period rather than a batt defect , I would be sure to use a charger with the AGM setting like linked I know a classic car guy with a few of these and they just work , yes you can buy dearer but ..............I have one and a Nico used used regular [url]

That is the charger I got:

My accumate is old but never showed old battery as fully charged:

Have new battery fitted and car started...

Had my Accumate connected but still showing not fully charged. I will put Maypole on tomorrow to see but also have another car battery in garage and will connect my Accumate to it to see if it is that is gone...
Alternator is standard and was reconditioned when car was restored recently.

Takes much heat to nearly burst open a battery case
Why not contact Odyssey, they might be very interested and you might get a free battery out of them
Edited to add, Odyssey would know that the battery has been cooked by something, ignore the above
