I guess all these can be classified one way or another, but anyway....

One of my favourite bands of all time Talk Talk:

Peter Gabriel - from the Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack, all of which is fantastic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzeDM6Qg_Vs

Rain Tree Crow - basically Japan reformed:

Another favourite band - Cigarettes after sex:

I guess this would be classed as shoegaze / dreampop but can't leave it out, Robin Guthrie:

Daniel Lanois:

Interesting. "Alternative" to me is anything other than blues / rock / classical / jazz.

As such, may I proffer the following as favourite "alternative" tunes:-

Porno For Pyros : Orgasm

Jane's Addiction : Been Caught Stealing

Smashing Pumpkins : Cherub Rock

I am currently listening to this and I think it's utterly marvellous.

For those of an impatient nature, it starts to kick off around 3:55

The album is great, too.
Thank you I really like that. Sounds a little Nick Cavey and a little Larry Love (solo)..

A few more 'oddities' from my car playlist today...

Robbie Robertson - "Somewhere Down The Crazy River"

I remember that when it came out... in 1987. 34 years ago! yikes

An artist my mother got me interested in many years ago... Dr. John.

Dr. John - I Walk On Guilded Splinters

And some ladies, too...

Anna Calvi, David Byrne - Strange Weather

Karen Elson was a model that featured in a White Stripes video and subsequently dated him for a while. He helped write/record this..

Karen Elson - The Ghost Who Walks

I'd like to offer the group Pan Amsterdam "Carrot Cake" (which will always remind me of lockdown) , with a truly bizarre video to go with it!

Pan Amsterdam

Apparently a reworking of "Come Closer" by Pakistani singer Salma Agha, from the 1984 Indian Bollywood film "Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki"

original
and if that isnt "alternative" i dont know what is!

Another offering
Bedouin Soundclash
Sounding a Mosaic

I picked up Sounding a Mosaic on a lucky dip basis (probably a charity shop), its got some great rhythms and bass lines.
My only issue is what do i follow it up with on the playlist?
