Occasional light knocking from rear end during deceleration
Discussion
Hi all,
Car is a Nissan Largo 2WD with auto transmission (rear wheel drive). What is happening is that when slowing down either light braking or coasting there is a faint knocking coming from the rear of the car. It does not happen all the time. Have owned the car for a long time 10 years plus. The rear brakes I have never touched, they are drum brakes wonder if something is up there?
I can describe the noise when it happens as almost like you would expect if there was something rubbing on one side of the prop shaft or driveshaft i.e it is rhythmic with the frequency matching road speed, so faster you are going when it happens the more knocks per second with the time between knocks getting longer as you slow.
BTW the propshaft is very short as the vehicle is mid engined as no centre bearing
Any ideas guys?
Thanks
