Pulled into the nearest Optimax station to give the beast a drink yesterday. Filled up then paid.

As I was paying a very nice looking lady in an Integra Type R pulled up behind, obviously waiting for the Optimax pump.

I enjoyed the view, and obviously so did my car. My cool slip-into-the-tvr-gun-the-engine-look-cool-to-fit-bird manoevour was completely ruined by the beast deciding he wanted to keep looking and not go anywhere. He refused to start. Obviously overheated by the lady in question. I had to push it forwards out the way so she could fill up and sat there waiting for it to cool down in complete embarassment. She filled up, paid, left whilst I felt very silly.

So much for the new starter motor fitted 2 months ago...

Mind you, I'll let him off. Got a confirmed flame out the exhaust on the way there! :bounce:

sounds like you've got the dreaded hot-start problem, which often precipitates a change of starter motor, but the real problem is the wiring loom to the starter. IIRC David Beer does a neat and simple wiring mod kit to overcome this. Plenty of threads to search on this one. I think POD posted some pics just last week.
Deepest sympathies re: the forecourt incident, totally excruciating

Changed the starter motor a couple of months ago due to this problem... I was hoping the under-warranty replacement would fix it, but obviously not.

Thank God the boffins kept the weight down to just over a tonne (the car).

Chances are there was nothing wrong with the old starter motor, and nothing wrong with the current one. The wire to the solenoid is very thin, gets very hot, the resistance gets too high, and the solenoid is starved of current.

Do a search for 'modwise warm start' and you'll find a cheap, simple solution.
