Annoying Tick from front of engine.

Ok this my be an obvious one but just in case it is of use :-

I had an annoying ticking sound that appeared to be coming from the Alternator. It was in fact the smallest of small stones stuck in the drive belt. It made a noise only when entering the tensioning pulley.

I have had a similar tick for a few months and I have also heard 'stone in the belt' suggestion.
How do you rotate the belt (engine) to see the inside of the whole belt.
Doh! I have just realised. You take the belt off don't you?

Stupid.
