What's This Meant to be Connected to? (Focus MK2)

Per the heading, this is hanging down on a Focus MK2 1.6. Car seems to start and drive fine and headlights seem to work fine. It has two forklike prongs, almost like a snake's tongue.

Hanging down on the offside of the car, about a quarter off central, just behind the radiator.

Any ideas?

Guessing that it could be for a temperature/ice warning sensor

Looks like part of the sensor is still in the plug

There seems to be a split line in the body. Does it come apart?

That looks to me like a couple of wires coming out of the bottom, although the body looks too big to be a simple connector.
