Just attempting to re-commission after many years dry lay up and on turning ignition key the SU pump surprisingly jumped into life...but never stopped ticking flat out...switched off and investigated for leaks...it turns out that there was quite a flow from the bottom of the 175cd stromberg (float chamber plug) - If the float has stuck, does the fuel vent out or has the the O ring simply perished?

How long before it is safe to crank the engine if the fuel got on the starter and solenoid?

All the fuel pipes look like new, except the 3" rubber joiner behind the engine on bulkhead joining the 2 halves of the main fuel supply to engine bay, which has stupid rusty steel spring clips - would have been too sensible to use alloy wormdrive jubilee clips which u could easily unscrew... All the easier access carb pipes are alloy jubilee fortunately

Not sure how far I need to go with any suspect seals - somewhat loathed to strip down perfect carbs and disturb original seals...however, this was no minor leak! - Was hoping to just change the pipes, not every carb flange seal
