Red upholstery

Is red upholstery viewed as ok, or naff?
I don't mind it personally, but I don't want to buy a car now, which has dealer sucking their teeth in in a few years time, and using it as an excuse to lower their already derisory part exchange offer.

Dealers will always find some reason to tell you that your car is worthless - if it's not a red interior, it will be something else.......

I bought a (used) car a month ago, and for some reason red leather seemed to be a popular choice for the model / age I was looking at. I wasn't really a fan but for the right car it wouldn't have stopped me buying.

Red interior has been something stopping me on a few cars I've seen lately, almost all of them being Jag XF estates or F-Paces. It's not so much that the interior is red, as much as it is that I really don't think the Jag's red/black interior combo looks cohesive and I can't get past it. It's subjective taste though and I appreciate that what I don't like, many others will.

Now, the red interior on some of the Maserati's I've seen looks cracking and I wouldn't second guess that interior if it came up on the right used model for me.

Love red leather, so much so I had my interior leather parts and seats dyed red (from brown)

Personally I find bright red a bit much, but very much like slightly darker red, can liven up a drab interior.

Had red in previous Boxster and bought it because it was different to the hundreds of dull black interiors.
Old adage though, buy what you want and like, not what some random dealer/buyer will say in x years time. Cars generally depreciate anyway so you colour choices won’t make a massive difference overall

I think red leather with some exterior paints looks amazing. I purchased our Silverstone grey S2000 with red leather and not regretted it.

As others have said, it depends on context. A red interior will make a chintzy car look even chintzier. Then there's the quality of the leather. In Fiat Coupes it's acquired that nasty shine over time that makes it look cheap as vinyl.

The leather quality and color combo of that Boxster OTOH looks simply ace, and that may well add resale value since I doubt I'm the only one who prefers it to the regular black pap.

This is a good Porsche red interior. One needs to be careful that its not the interior known as Dog Knob Red for obvious reasons

My 9 year old E500 has dark red leather which I think has aged well.

I'd just buy what you like. I just bought an M4 convertible, Black with Sakhir (red) leather and obviously as I purchased it, I like it. I've had a few cars with Black leather and I personally think it's a little oppressive, I'd always go for an alternative. I think it's more about the experior / interior colour combo, i.e. I would not have bought a white M4 with red leather, personally...but it goes well with Black / grey and on porsches, again goes well with a range of silvers / greys.

Red is definitely more than ok in my eyes. Have two red leather interior cars in our household and one tan/beige.

Why on earth Black leather seems to be the most popular choice I will never know. It’s depressing, dark, Uninviting and looks fetishy in my opinion. Would you paint your living room walls Black?!

When I had my M135i LCi I specifically spec'ed it with red leather. It was the best option at the time to go with the dark grey paint. It got positive comments. I can't see why it would count as a strike against a car like say yellow paint or a beige interior would.

Yep-in addition to my 156 above, its been tan, beige or red all the way....

Grey cars suit red leather, racing green cars suit tan, and blue cars suit beige.

My vx220 had a burgandy red interior which I liked.

I don't like bright red interiors, but most of the examples in this thread I would not dismiss. I don't particularly like black leather but beggars can't be choosers.

We ordered our Mini One in 2002 with a red interior with part black leather. So definitely not adverse to red.

It's a shame that they didn't do that colour interior when the turbo was released, it would have looked great on a moonland car
