another doubt!!!!
Discussion
hi guys
its me, doubting thomas again.
ok this is my querry, how do i find what has been the donor vehicle of my jago. it is now registered as a jago, pick up, 1.3, with dvala. and they are unable to give me any further details.
i want to find out if this is a ford escort or cortina? so that i can buy the correct spark plugs etc from halfords.
it was first registred in 1975, the reg is old P.
my understanding is kits are only allowed to keep the donar cars reg if they have above 90% of the parts from the original donar car. and any kit car that has less than 90% parts from the original donar will be registred under a Q reg.
is my understanding correct?
if yes, as mine is in an old P reg, i think, whether it is an escort or cortina, finding parts should be easier.
but is it an escort or cortina?
how to make that out?
would the chassi number will be of any help?

The Geep is designed around the Escort not Cortina , if DVLA retained the '76 P reg. then it was a mark 2 Escort donor with 1300 engine fitted , so base your spares requests around that , however my advice would be to always take a sample of what you already have fitted when you go to buy anything or find the part number on it first just to be on the safe side.

yet another Red Jeep owner helps out lol
When it comes to spare parts for your engine, the guys behind the counter generally ask, what car is it, what model, what year....engines size etc.,
Find your engine number...don't just get it off the V5 but it'll be on the engine somewhere...make a note of it...and there are various ways of working out what year the engine was produced in...especially helpful when it comes to buying spark plugs etc.
I bought my spark plugs from Halfords and I said I couldn't be sure if my engine was Cortina or Capri....Don't worry Sir (you get called Sir when your Jeep is Red) we've got all makes and models on our computer....'bet you ain't got mine on there mate says I....still got the plugs tho from the details I got from the engine number.

Red versus The Rest, or is it The Rest versus The Reds lol...hmmmmn...it seems that someone, somewhere, put the words 'Red' and 'Gay' in the same sentence a while back. I think that person meant the word 'Gay' to be taken in the old sense of the word, not the modern day meaning. Trouble is Gopen, that some of us are a right bunch of mickey takers, and seem to have grown up on a diet of TV programmes like the Carry On....films, The Fast Show, Little Britain and so on. Don't worry, there's not a secret war going on between the Reds and the Greens or any other colour...if I thought for one minute, someone was having a go at me or anyone else in the club...I'd be up there and smack 'em round the head with my handbag. Just for the record...I am married, two sons, Red Jeep and most certainly not quexxx...'gay' (just help them out when they're busy) lol
