Video Capture Device for iMac?
Discussion
Hi all - the usual story.. have been having a clear out and found a load of Hi-8 tapes as well as my old school video camera which has an analogue phono video & audio output.
I've used various capture devices on Windows, but these don't tend to work with the latest macs due to digital signatures and/or apples retirement of 32/16bit stuff.
I use iMovie/final cut pro/OBS so it's just the hardware i'm interested in.
I have an iMac 27" with a 3.1ghz 6 core i5 running 16gb Ram & radeon Pro 575X 4gb video - any recommendations for the hardware please?

Something like this?

Doesn't seem to be available from Elgato anymore (was about £90) - but Amazon show them at about £126.
Elgato stuff always seems expensive to me - and there are copycats available at much cheaper prices on Amazon if you'd rather spend less and take a punt (don't even know if the Elgato one even works on the later OSes as the website just says 10.11+).

You may find a local film/cine/etc service will do a raw rip for you for less, depending on how many tapes.
As some of it will be questionable i'd prefer to do it, in house
i also have a massive box of VHS tapes i 'inherited' when my dad died - well over 100 tapes, and there are family events mixed in with films & tv shows recorded off the tv so it will get plenty of use.
£126 is a bit more than i'd want to pay for what is essentially a copy of all the other ones that are available @ £30 and don't play well with the mac so i'll keep looking, but thank you for the suggestion.
