As title really, old battery is finally on the way out. What brands are decent/reliable now?

Even though I don’t think the are Jap made anymore Yuasa have always been my go to.

Lithium batteries have some advantages but you know where you are a bit more with lead acid.

The Yuasa I put into my Monster is on its third year and still going strong, the OEM one lasted 8 years too.

Highly recommended.

I normally go to tayna batterys Web site and choose the highest cca, motobatt are pretty good and last a while with no use

I just bought and fitted a Shido Lithium battery to my old Kawasaki. Cost about 55 quid and works great, is also about 3.5 kg lighter.

Had a good experience from a BS Battery from SBS for my 1 litre VTwin - a lot cheaper than Yuasa and was having issues with the stock batt

Personally would only choose between Yuasa and maybe Lithium, although with the latter I struggle to see the point unless it's a track bike - great in theory and light, but need a special charger etc.

Don't bother with a Motobatt (or other cheap knock off), in my experience they're junk and you'll end up replacing it with the Yuasa you should have got in the first place after the first cold snap.

Sounds daft to say but whatever people say fit. Same year, model etc and fit that battery

Went for a Yuasa in the end. This one will have an optimate plug from new and live in a warm room so hopefully last a few years yet.

It is often worth your while asking your local Honda dealer how much the genuine battery is.

Honda own Yuasa so their batteries are basically Yuasa batteries with the Hinda logo on them instead.
Bizarrely, their pricing policy often makes them cheaper than the same battery with the Yuasa logo on instead of the Honda wing.

It took me flipping ages to find the right battery for my Triumph which was a very specific size and spec, I ended up with a Yasua also from Tayna who are excellent. It ended up being the exact make and model referred to in the Haynes manual.

If size is not an issue I’ve had no issues with cheapo EBay batteries on my old bike but they don’t last as long especially over winter.

The bike in question is my p&j so having the correct battery seems right smile
