Just adding a wee note on here from a thread that is already running on the Tuscan Forum.

I'm trying to get my 03 Tuscan reclassified as a PLG rather than Petrol car, having discussed with Swansea today following an initial rejection they suggested I write back to them with an example of a similar change being made (the lady I spoke to was very helpful and actually looked up a car which I knew had been successfully reclassified to PLG).

I know a few owners have been successful with this change and hoped I could get a note of a second registration to support my letter to them.

Any help most appreciated,

Thanks
Richard

Superb Keith, thank you. I don’t see any back payments sadly, but if successful should future proof against wild RFL increases.

Actually re-reading this it may not be the detail I require Keith, I am looking for a registration of a vehicle that has been changed from “petrol car” to “PLG”; this post suggests they were classed as PLG from initial registration?

I wrote, with “signed for” on delivery etc, to DVLA at the end of January on this. Phoned them after 6 weeks, having heard nothing, and was told my request was “in process”, and to call back in 2 weeks if I hadn’t heard anything. Still nothing, so will need to call again .

They’ve rejected my application twice and ignored a letter in-between. However I did speak to a lady on the phone yesterday who was very helpful and suggested I resend an application and reference a couple of cars that have been reclassified.

I do not think your Tuscan is eligible for PLG. All cars were PLG to 28th Feb 2001, however, since 1st March 2001 the correct classification is 'petrol car', PLG is only used for vehicles that do not fall into the other categories, see guidance here:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/governmen...

Not sure what you think would benefit you from being PLG?

From the other thread we know ratboiler and phil tudhope got their V5C changed , I don't know the registrations but the VIN are:-
SDLCTC16A26B001023 and SDLCTC16A26B001058 plus mine of SDLCTC16A26B001061
(all Tuscan convertible 1st registered in 2006 incorrectly and changed by the DVLA.... see the convertible register on the Tuscan forum)

The DVLA should be able to work off the VINs , in fact they are fixed unlike the registrations smile

Good Luck
PS The above post is totally incorrect , and of course the benefit is your road fund licence is cheaper smile

PPS Did you do as I suggested and return your V5C as being incorrect ? and did they return it ?

PPS I did get a refund , but only for the part year because I changed it in 2007, immediately I discovered their error smile

Yes both times I returned my V5C plus application form, insurance cert etc. First time they sent back new documents, second time they just sent back my letter c/w all submitted paperwork.
