Hello all,

Does anyone here work for HPI Check?

I am trading in my current car with a dealer and the handover of my new car has been delayed because my current car has had 10+ plate changes so it’s taking HPI Check a while to confirm all historical plates are clear etc.

I have no issue with this as I did the same when I bought my car but does anyone here know approx how long this takes or even better , work there?

Anyone have a similar experience and how long did it take ?

Shouldn’t really take any time at all. HPI details all the previous plates on the report and if any finance is registered to the VRM/VIN.

Feel free to post the reg if you want and I’ll look.

When I did the Hpi check when I bought it the report came back instantly but they emailed to say it would take 5-7 days for them to “double check to ensure there is no finance on any of the historical plates.”

I’m assuming the dealer has hit the same issue now that they are buying it off me. Usually not my issue apart from the fact it’s delaying my new car purchase.

Do you work for HPI Check? I personally know there is zero hidden finance on it but the dealer , quite rightly, won’t complete the deal until they get the all clear.

I don’t work for HPI, but I buy/sell 2000+ cars a year and HPI every one of them. I’ve never experienced the issue you’re mentioning.

Here’s the email I got from them when doing an HPI check. I got the standard report then an email from them saying a case was raised. When I asked what case and why they said....

Good Morning Craig

Thank you for your email. When you check a vehicle which has had more than ten previous registration plates, a case is automatically generated so that we can double-check each one for you and ensure that nothing has been hidden in the Plate Transfer history that actually relates to this vehicle.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

That’s very interesting. Over what time frame has it had 10+ plates? Normally when a finance interest is registered it goes against the VRM and the VIN.

Any reason why you don't VCheck them instead?
