Aerial amplifier Porsche Boxster 987?

My 987, for some reason, seems to have lost its aerial amplifier. I suspect this happened when the screen was replaced and they forgot about the amp. Any road, have been doing without decent radio reception for a while as have been enjoying music through iPod and new head unit - Pioneer AVH-8400BT. However, would like to sort so have researched that the required part is 98764710500. Have read that even with the right amplifier, radio reception was never great so I was wondering if there was a later part that improved reception or perhaps a third party product? Interested to hear how other 987 owners may have dealt with this issue.
