I think I need a new battery in the 981 Cayman, as it takes a few seconds to fire up where it used to be almost instantly, can I change it myself or do I need to go to a Porsche specialist.
Many thanks......

Depends if you have a warranty...

ETA: they are pretty easy to change over yourself, but you will need the "official" Porsche one if you have warranty.

Despite what some will tell you, they don't need coding to the car:

Not quite. If you have stop start then the ECU needs adapting and for that you need a box of tricks

I've changed mine over in the 718 with stop start and it still works fine no problem, the only thing you have to do is reset the one touch windows by opening and closing them.

I did buy the 'offical' Porsche battery though, with the Porsche part number.

The Exide ek800 is a great battery, believe its OEM on the 981 GT4 in the USA.
Yes you need to get the battery coded for the Stop/Start.
Takes about 20 mins to replace as you need to remove the tyre inflator box too.

The battery is the original and the car is left on a battery conditioner and was hardly used over the winter, but it takes 3-5 seconds to ( fire up ) now, before the winter it was an instance start, don’t want to buy a new batter if it’s something else that needs looking at.......
