Heater fan fuse and bleeding water system!
Discussion
Hi guys.
Today I carried on recommissioning me car after a body off.
Bleeding water system including filling heater matrix from dry I noticed my interior fan stopped working as it was coming up-to to temperature which meant I couldn’t feel hot air coming through vents although I could feel both the metal heater pipes inside the car were very hot. I’m hoping that means it’s got water coming in and out and I’ve bled out any air.
Rad fans are coming on and off and temp reads a steady 89-90.
I'm hoping it’s the fuse that’s caused the heater to stop working so does the heater fan share the fuse with other systems so I can check before removing battery and hauling my ass down there.
Thanks in advance.

My heater fan had stopped working recently and it was the earth wire had gone high resistance at the plug into the heater control box under the dash top: :
It didn't blow the fuse. Just stopped working
I soldered a wire directly to the circuit board and joined it to the wire the other side of the plug with soldered on spade connector. Job jobbed.

To paraphrase the comments of the Renault salesman, when I ordered my first air conditioned car in November 1987, "why do you want air-conditioning? It's winter, innit?".
Why do you need a heater when we are coming into summer?
Apart from the connector to the heater control box, and the control box itself failing (it is directly behind the heater controls under the dash top) another one I suffered was a dodgy contact in the wiring under the carpet, in the outer sidewall of the car just in front of the passenger door. As you have just done a body off, that's a distinct possibility.
The control box itself can fail.
And the heater fan can of course fail.
I have had all 4 in my time with the car.

Yes and your amusing notes on the subject being both informative and helps to lighten the mood. Why do you need a heater when we are coming into summer?

Tvr are reliable my arse

I’ve just read Alan’s thread and duly noted your sidewall comment.
I remember you suffering this now.
I’ve also had a problem which Dom solved as part of other works, I think it was just the connection at the time.
Andy on FB mentioned he has done the motor so if it’s that bad I’ll do a trade with him. He needs a push with his car too.
Thanks chaps.

I've been going a few months without my blower motor working now. It's fine with the roof on as the ambient heat and breeze from the car moving is more than enough, my head is bloody freezing with the roof off though
Mines unplugged died years ago one day I'll get my dusty new old stock Vauxhall one in
but then again probably wont bother I dont drive it with the roof on anyways Errr I think I might have a hearing problem.
My heater fan worked first press of the button today and has continued to work as I bled my water system and ran the car a good 30 mins. Heaters hot and fans kicking in at 92 on my gauge.
I forgot how it works so fan was on the lowest setting.
Or because I opened passenger door it’s made a connection.
I’ll monitor it.
A result for once maybe

Probably the motor stuck through lack of use Alun and now its spinning (they can stick) they can also seize completly so you may of swerved this now it will be back in regular use , just to add this was also an issue on GM cars back in the day the donor cars of said fan motor , I changed lots back in the day due to the bearings failing 80's Astra's Cavalier's etc etc when I first decided to go self-employed early 90's

Nice earner
not! Good chance. I think as soon as I remembered how to set it to full power it worked first hit of the button.
It’s very quiet on its lowest setting but standing causes issues with bad earths so I’ll have the dash off to look at the condition of the controller soon enough.
Thanks for all the help boys.
