Hi all,
Bought this at the back end of last year for the other half who wanted a practical(ish) Automtic 5 door hatch to run around in - I didn't want anything slow for the times I ended up driving it, so thought an M140i would fit the bill perfectly
(obviously completely wasted on my Mrs). Fancied something other than black for a change, and this Melbourne red one popped up with the extras I was after
M140i Shadow Edition (Harman Kardon, black trims, cruise control etc.)
Pro nav
Heated Oyster leather
Reverse camera
Adaptive LED headlights etc.

Anyway I ended up absolutely loving the thing, have duly commandeered it (part time at least) and started buying some nice 'bits' for it...
Had the M-Performance LSD fitted last week along with the underbody brace from the older 3 door M135i's. Not really had chance to drive it in anger yet but most suggest fitting an LSD to these is revelatory. The brace isn't as significant but helps to give the rear end a touch more control.
I also have a Bilstein B12 kit (B8 dampers and Eibach Pro springs) and a Remus Exhaust sat in the garage waiting to go on (not sure she'll be too pleased with the exhaust
). Decent dampers and an LSD are likely the 2 best mods you can do to one of these cars.
I'm also not a fan the standard wheels so have a set of 18" Apex EC-7's on their way to me - 8.5/9.5" staggered set up in proper offsets for the 1 series - it's not easy to find wheels of a decent width with a high enough offset to fit the 1er properly, and I hate wheels poking too far out of the arches. This will let me fit some decent width rubber - probably 235 on the front and 265 at the rear. The EC-7's are flow forged too so they're about 2kg per corner lighter than the stock wheels.

That will be it for now until I give in to the temptation for more power...

Melbourne red really suits these.
I’m nearly two years into ownership and am happy with it (I still have longing for an M2). I’m too tight to spring for the LSD (would rather put that cash towards said M2) but think it drives better on H+R -15mm springs, the underbody brace and B8 rear dampers (it’s the rear that lets these down the most).
Fiddling with them is a slippery slope though!

I haven’t the faintest idea what you mean

Haha, tell me about it! This is still technically my Mrs car and I've already gone semi-nuts on the mods.
Ha, thought I recognised it. I’m at William’s all the time, he’s an utter legend.I was across last week when your car was on the ramp getting the diff done, I thought at the time you don’t see many Melbourne red’s let alone with pro nav, adaptive LED’s and the rear camera.
I’m a fellow oyster leather fan. Looks great buddy.

Do you guys have a thread on your cars I can have a nosey at?

Mine is up there with the ultimate definition of project creep
Started the thread nearly 4 years ago intending to keep it standard

It’s now a hybrid turbo 600bhp monster

And it’s in the middle of being turned up

If you’re local and around William’s again give me a shout mate, happily take you out in mine, it’s a slippery slope as Mr Court says haha. My Instagram is @d4mjt if you’re on there.

I may well take you up on that mate, cheers! I'm working up that way at the minute so I'm in the area most days.

Just had a quick look and your car looks great! I'll have a proper read of the thread tomorrow. I used to have a tuned 5.0 XKR with around 600bhp and that thing moved, so these must be seriously quick at that sort of power level... I can see this getting out of hand

Sure thing mate, honestly just give me a shout!
Lovely colour !
I wanted either a red, or orange one, but nothing in those colours was available for my budget at the time.
Had mine a year and a half, absolutely love it.
It does everything I want in a daily driver, and is so tune-able too. Love the wheels on yours, the stock wheels are something I am most certainly changing, not seen those before but they look great. I was looking at Bola wheels.
I managed to get a 2017 with 14,200 miles on, for exactly £20k (through work, as I work at a main car dealership), can't see me selling it anytime soon, I genuinely love it.
