Mileage blockers - finding them out

Looking at F80 M3's which are rife with mileage blockers. They are also very hard to detect once removed and modern cars wear quite well on the interior.
However, I could obtain hours run and compare against the mileage. Are there any ranges which would fall into normal?

If a mileage blocker is removed, the mileage pings forward to where it 'really' is from what i've seen online. The mileage blockers generally would stay there for the life of the car and be activated on or off via a combo of button presses on the steering wheel.
generally most cars have data like mileage saved in several modules (some including the key itself). So even if there was suspicion of one being fitted, it would be worth checking other modules of the car that store mileage data to see what numbers are shown there. From what i gather a mileage blocker would only freeze mileage on the odometer and it wouldn't be sophisticated enough to change mileage elsewhere.

Looking at their own site, seems the more recent cars with updates have crippled them somewhat; Would be worth checking the firmware versions to see if they've been updated.

Just checked my mercedes app, I haven't reset the trip mileage ever, so being a C63s, I imagine it would be driven fairly similarly, I've got:
20 days, 46 minutes driving so: 480 hrs 46 minutes or 28,846 minutes.
10,675 miles since last reset
So that works out on average, 2.7min/mile
Anyone else got any data?

Not on the F80 apparently, it reads the mileage in the odometer, then distributes from there, so blocking there doesn't record elsewhere. Other cars may be different. Removing them doesn't ping forward either. Again, just what I've read.

Trust your gut in these things, the MOT history online as well but appreciate that is not any use under three years old, possibly get hold of the logbook when checking paperwork and take a crafty photo of the previous owners details and get in touch and ask them what it was on when it was sold. Look for any paperwork, if there isn't anything then why not, I know BMW's are on the IDrive but think thats easily messed with.

I suspect in a lot of cases people get a car thats had a haircut and are oblivious and never have an issue but still you dont want to pay for a 30k car thats done double that.

In this day and age why OEM's don't update mileage of vehicles live to a central database, could also act as a tracker. If its been off the grid for a significant period, I'd want to know why.
In fact as much as they aren't my type of car, I don't even have to check to know Tesla's no doubt include both these features from standard.

Cars which aren’t abused wear incredibly well, but all sorts of things can cause seat wear like that from the materials used to the size of the driver and how often they get in and out.
You’ll get a lot more wear on a seat where the car’s been used for shorter runs so lots of getting in and out than on something where someone is just sat.
Buy on condition. We’re ridiculously paranoid about mileage in the UK anyway.

This will be partially dependent on the leather. Your F-series 3 is probably kitted out in Dakota, which is essentially coated in plastic so is exceptionally hard wearing - I had an M240i with red Dakota interior and with a bit of elbow grease it looked basically as new after 4 years. Whilst I agree with this sentiment, you don't want to buy a car thats been misrepresented. There are other factors to look at, such as mileage intervals... is the cambelt actually due? DSG boxes need a service at 40k miles, is it 20k past an oil change etc etc...The use is widespread as people will get PCP/ hire deals and insurance with say 5k miles a year and then freeze the mileage and do 20k, I'd be worried that the cars service intervals aren't being kept to either.
It would be trivial for modern manufacturers to stamp this out as often the cars come data connected out of the box and so could use GPS and also they calculate fuel loads based on injector throughput so they could work out how many litres have passed through and flag any discrepancies.
Must make it more likely to inadvertently be caught speeding if using this as well.

From that mileage corrector link further up the page, I wonder if using this would interfere with the cars stability/traction control and airbag system?Must make it more likely to inadvertently be caught speeding if using this as well.

Since you asked I’ve done 36190 since I bought my car at and average of 1.95 min/mile (E350d cab) so you are definitely not exploiting that engine....lol.20 days, 46 minutes driving so: 480 hrs 46 minutes or 28,846 minutes.
