Container shipping costs
Discussion
I don't do any shipping but i do use products which have been shipped and have been told by various suppliers that the cost of a container has gone from around a grand to something silly like 6k
Case in point we use some granite which comes from china. Really nice material tbh and was around 26 plus vat per linear meter which while not being that cheap was a sensible cost and a great option.
Now....
£48 plus vat
wtf.
So have they really gone up that much? why? will it last? (i find that once stuff goes up it rarely comes back down). This is also before the evergreen as well. Just the last few weeks.

Early last year we were paying c. $2,500 for a 40' delivered, current prices are between $12,000 & $14,000, depending on what's available and where. Scary times. General feeling is that things will settle once the container situation in China has improved but that could still be many months away. Also hearing that prices will not go back to anywhere near where they were, and that China/shippers assume we'll be happy to pay increased rates as we've been doing it for so long............. Barrel comes to mind..................
