Hi all, thinking of putting together a racing chair setup for my sons (and me of course!).

I believe a PS4 or PS5 cannot handle multiple monitors, so I was considering an ultrawide monitor (one of those curved ones).

Has anyone any experience of these? Can they work with a PS4/5 without distortion? How daft do they look?

Finally, anyone a recommendation? I'm thinking of 43" (laptops direct have refurbed ones for £399). But would a 49" be better (or too wide?).

Thanks for any advice.

I’d check compatibility first - I’m not sure those consoles can support the native resolution of a typical ultra wide or super ultra wide (21:9 or 32:9, 1080 or 1440). You’d probably be better off with a large 120hz variable refresh rate TV.

I use a 34in ultrawide with my PC, positioned as close as I can get it and it works pretty well but the FOV is still quite restricted (no side mirrors).

On PS4 you just end up with 16:9 in the middle of the screen, unless you get the monitor to stretch it (which then looks horrible). Don't think it's much better on PS5.

Just get a regular 16:9 TV.

I run my ps4 pro through my ultra wide monitor. It is set to stretch to fill the screen. To be honest you dont really notice the distortion too much, and it works nicely for gran turismo as with a wheel and the monitor (on gas arm) nice the close and low the involvement in the game is good.

I'd look at at least 55" normal telly with specs suited to gaming (refresh rate). 65" would be better. A 16:9 telly would probably feel a bit more immersive - the ultrawide monitor a bit "letterbox-ish".
