Switchable PSE standard on 2018MY 718 Boxster onwards?

Just bought a 17 reg 718 Boxster (july reg 2018 model allegedly), a part of the attraction of this car was that it has switchable PSE fitted. Having looked into the 718 evolution a bit further, it seems that PSE is standard fit from 2018 onwards, is that correct?

Mine has the switchable version, looking on autotrader at 18 plate cars, they don't all seem to have the switch so is this still an optional extra? Alternatively does the PSE just kick in when you select Sport mode?

Happy with the car, paid a fairly reasonable price (I feel) and got 2 years OPC warranty, 4 year service and a years road tax included, just wondering if I didn't need to have bothered with searching for a car with PSE.....

I believe all cars with OPF filters have PSE as standard, so anything from Sept 2018 onwards from memory?

I've just checked the VIN online and it is a 2018 MY car

Think the PSE was made standard as part of an effort to improve the image of the flat four engine, which has been done to death on here and in all the tests.

IMO you don't actually need a PSE as the standard one will do the overruns and has a much more bassy note in Sport mode. Normal mode is much quieter.

But yes, the switchable 'option' was made standard I think from 2018 when they also bundled in Connect and DAB.

If anyone is interested, the switchable PSE was made standard on 2019 MY cars onwards so probably most 68 regs and maybe a few later 18 regs will have it.

Having now driven my car with it fitted, I am impressed, it sounds better than I expected, louder and with the pops and bangs on throttling off, which is nice.....
