Aston says I cannot track my car
Discussion
My V12VS has been back in the service centre more times than I can count in the last 20months.
It seems to develop faults continuously but especially after track days. On both occasions they were relatively light track days and within around 10 minutes the inevitable fault message appears along with transmission or engine leaks. On the most recent visit the head of the service centre told me that these cars cannot be tracked or driven with a high engine rpm for a prolonged period of time...
What kind of sports cars are these if they can't handle the occasional spanking??!!

I have a 2015 V12VS Roadster and never heard they couldn’t be used during track days.
I have taken part in track days organised by my local French dealer, who happens to be the general importer with three dealerships spread out over the country.
All very well organised with technical assistance on site.
Never have I been discouraged to take part in any of those events, quite the contrary, I get invited each time.
My car always performed very well, never encountered a single problem.
Maybe there’s something wrong with your car that they don’t want you to track it.
The V12 is essentially the same engine that has been raced by AML themselves with a Le Mans win amongst others. A friend of mine regularly tracks his V12VS Coupe also without any problem.
Very odd statement from your dealer!

Ask Mike at Bamford Rose...
The dealer seems to be confused unless yours is a diesel. Most mechanics even at my Aston dealer state that a track day is like an italian tune up and is excellent for the engine, it cleans it up gets the plugs working etc etc.My car always drives better, smoother is more responsive after a good brisk mountain drive or a sensible track day,
I suggest changing dealers as they are feeding you a pack of lies.
These cars have no problem with track days; I can personally attest to it. There is something wrong with yours that your dealer is clearly incapable of (or unwilling to) fix. It's possible that the hard use on track has uncovered an issue that would not be readily apparent on the street, but to suggest that the track days are the root cause and that the cure is no more track days is akin to your doctor suggesting that hard exercise is the cause of chest pain and the cure for your narrowed coronary arteries is to lead a sedentary life.

Would it be Black V12V Carbon Black edition by any chance? It seems to develop faults continuously but especially after track days. Great post Olivier.
Sorry to be pedantic, but AML's Vantage GTE cars at Le Mans had V8 engines.
It was the Vantage GT3 which used the V12 engine and they too went very well on track.
Does seems strange to be speaking in the past tense, but it is customer teams only now.

Yes sorry. My long term memory failed me again. I always think of that wonderfully exciting Le Mans race finish, when the Vantage GTE diced with a Chevrolet and won. Do look on YouTube, if you have not already watched those final laps.

Sorry, but tracking a car will automatically void the warranty, and some cars have usage memory thats downloadable to prove if the car has been used like that. If you wish to thrash the car, then obviously thats your prerogative, but it will invalidate the warranty, just as using launch control on a certain manufacturers car more than 3 times in a row will do.
In the end, you have purchased a road car, if you want a race car, then try someone like David Appleby Engineering who will prep you a race car, but don't expect any warranty on that either.

^^ Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of warranty in the OP's story, nor did I see any mention that he wanted a "race car".
At any rate, while it may be an interesting side topic, invalidation of the warranty has nothing to do with the issue brought forward, which is the dealer's nonsensical assertion that these cars can't be tracked.

Doing a track day does not invalidate your warranty at all. In fact my dealer encouraged me to go on a track day to make sure everything is in order with my car before my warranty expires! I am speaking as a resident of the UK here... If you live somewhere else, then maybe the warranty rules are different, but there is not such warranty rule here.In the end, you have purchased a road car, if you want a race car, then try someone like David Appleby Engineering who will prep you a race car, but don't expect any warranty on that either.
To the OP, your dealer is trying to palm you off. I would not trust my car with them going forward even if they did eventually agree to do it under warranty. Why, if you said you would pay for it out of your own pocket, would they suddenly find the expertise to fix the problem?
