DBS compared with the Vanquish
Discussion

Has anyone had experience of both? Im considering a manual DBS but cant help looking at the 8 speed Vanquish. I have one manual car already but really want to own and experience a V12 manual. But, the vanquish is so gorgeous and I just cant help but think I could own one for very similar money.
Any opinions welcome, thanks.
To add, Im aware the DBS is obviously more dated in terms of interior/tech and is apparently a harsh ride. Any other insights would be helpful.

Have driven both. But only own a Vanquish.
I think the DBS has chances of holding it's value more and that's the only plus. Vanquish 2 for me beats it in every single measure after that.
Both awesome, but as you've said the Vanquish looks are so special.
Its a dilemma, both are stunning but if the vanquish was a manual, it would be a no brainer! Decisions, decisions.I think the DBS has chances of holding it's value more and that's the only plus. Vanquish 2 for me beats it in every single measure after that.

What about either a V12 Vantage as an alternative to the DBS, or a V12 Vantage S manual as an alternative to the Vanquish 8spd if you really want a manual and a V12 together. The manual and V12 combo probably works best in the Vantage as its more sports and less GT than either the DBS or Vanquish, but if you don't fancy the looks of the Vantage as much then...
I own both a V12VS Manual and an 8speed AMR Rapide - the gearboxes are very very different, both brilliant at what they do, and each one suits the nature of the car is is in perfectly. However I don't think either one would work very well if offered the other way around. Appreciate not the same as the two you are thinking of, but on a similar vein....

I have both; DBS for 10 years and Vanquish for the past 5 years. Both are special in their own way. Vanquish is more comfortable because of the extra front leg room, but that all depends on the individual. If I had to sell one it would be the Vanquish, only because my DBS is unique and would be far harder to replace. Interestingly, whenever I’m driving one, I think it is the better of the pair.
My advice would be to buy whichever meets your color preferences, in and out. For me, that’s been the hardest part of buying either model.

This is the important bit.. the character of the car/gearbox combination. I also have V12VSM plus Vanquish S, even though I rarely drive the Vanq in auto mode I wouldn’t want the gearboxes the other way round. Neither do I lust after a faster/dual clutch box in the Vanq. As the Super GT AM marketed it as the current box works fine, even if it does occasionally draw criticism from people wanting more hardcore shifts. I owned an automatic DBS for 5 years and have driven the Vanquish 6 and 8 speed multiple times, coming close to buying one on a few occasions.
The Vanquish steers better, is quieter on the motorway, has marginally more space and is a little quicker. Most do not have semi-aniline leather and do not have that leather smell. The seats are broad and relatively unsupportive.
The DBS had semi-aniline leather as standard and will always smell of leather. The interior although more dated is a little more special. I prefer the the seats and the door cards with their carbon fibre arm rests.
Looks are subjective, they both look and sound great in my opinion.

Both are cracking cars so there are no real winners or losers here.
Have driven both extensively - the DBS would probably have to be a manual and is a cracker but I ended up with an 8spd Vanquish. Just much more planted, noticeably quicker and with more of a bite on the exhaust.
Throw in the greater handling, the uplift internally in comfort, ICE and switchgear then it starts to push an edge. Add in the fact that the boot is 40% bigger with more internal legroom etc then it becomes a better GT too.
However, the DBS will always be a supremely special car and is arguably better looking although personally I prefer the aggressive strakes and lines of the vanquish.
Both Halo cars of their times and the last of the lines of the legendary V12 so if you own either you are part of a very special club.

I had a DBS Coupe from new - from 2010 to 2018. I swapped it briefly for a Vanquish Volante (which had gremlins) and I then settled on the Vanquish S Ultimate Coupe.
To drive, I would say that the Vanquish is in every tangible way better than the DBS. However, the DBS has a certain something that is difficult to pin down.
The short answer is that they are both great.
Would I go back to the DBS? Probably not, if I'm honest. Do I regret selling it? Yes.

They are both stunning and the pinnacle of that design language. The current design language; vantage / db11 / dbs has completely lost it.Has anyone had experience of both? Of the two I would go Vanquish, obvs

Speaking of Vanquishes (Vanquishi?) - what's the score with this one ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-Aston-Martin-Vanqu...

Was more interested in the story regarding pre-production.
I'm watching that one too, unusual for one to escape into the wild. The bits that slightly bother me are "The car has never been on the road and has never been MOTd, I currently have the V5 and the car can easily be MOTd and made ready for the road." - if it's that easy, why hasn't the vendor sorted it out before putting it up for sale...?Was more interested in the story regarding pre-production.
Any chance of getting a manual DBS MY 2012 in some sort of grey color ? The only ones I see are 2009 in coupe body and black color. There’s only a couple on the market for sale. They are going for $170-180k USD. I remember pricing were much lower.

There are a few DBS manuals 4 sale in europe, mainly Germany. Maybe import one? Overall i think the DBS is one of those Astons that have bottomed out already. So no suprise that prices are risingEdited by klee168168 on Saturday 20th January 23:10
