Hi.

Changing the clutch and rear crank oil seal.
when I pulled the gearbox off, the spigot bush came out too.
I’m not sure which end fits in first. ( it’s got a smaller outer diameter at one end)
I’ve looked online to perhaps buy a replacement.
But have not seen anything like the one that came out.
Thank you for any help.
Kind regards.

Shouldn't it be a bearing on a manual and only an automatic should have a bush?

That's a genuine question because the spigot shaft on a manual doesn't rotate at engine speed when the clutch is depressed, and I thought only automatics should have bushes.

I think some people use phosphor bronze as a bush, especially when using it to make an adapter of different shape.

I would have thought TVR either turned up a bronze bush or bought another manufacturers bearing...sorry cannot be of more help

I would guess that the larger diameter sits on the outside to stop the bush going in too far?

Hi.
Thank you for your reply.
Reading on previous threads, regarding spigot bushes.
Yes you can fit a needle roller type bearing.
But I believe you have to slightly bore out the end of the crank.
So that the correct size can fit.

I wonder if that can easily be done in situ? Maybe a case of a dremmel with a round sanding end?

Caddy shack,
Your guess, could be right. Thank you.
Looking at the impact marks on the bush. It looks like the bigger outside diameter side, would fit facing the clutch/gearbox.

Yes you could bore out the end of the crank. ( I would only end up making the hole too big haha)
But I will stick with this type of bush.
That’s how they were built.
Although some have changed to roller bearing after taking the gearbox off.
Pros and cons, which ever one you fit. ( according to the other threads)
Although it my be wise for me to fit a new one. (Bush type)
I’m sure it should be a tighter fit. (Mines fell out)
And I would like to think they are not that expensive.

Replace it wink that may have spun in the crank anyway scratchchin its made of phosphor bronse so no damage should off occured , its not a spigot support style bush like suggested by DSW & often used in automatics to support torque converter, TVR in their infinite wisdom chose to use this solid bush design (cheapo) rather that a proper needle/pin style bearing rolleyes TVR Power etc will sell you the correct part which should be a nice snug drift/press fit into the crankshaft opening , trial fit 1st on input shaft should be a nice sliding fit but fitted tight in crankshaft blind hole
