Vet nurse/nurse assistant advice
Discussion
Hopefully posting this in the right place..
I am looking at a career change to a vet nurse or vet nurse assistant to begin with. Something I've wanted to do for ages, but never realised you do not need a degree for it.
Does anyone have any tips or advice on the best entry to the profession? From my research it seems I need to get some decent work experience/voluntary work on my CV and I've also signed up to do an online course in the subject to begin with.
The main entry into the job seems to be through getting any job at a vet practice and then being offered training after a year or so of employment. This involves one day a week at a college to get the diploma.
Is my best bet to do as mentioned above, and do some work experience and volunteering and potentially find a lower level job at a vets?
It seems very rare for vets to hire student nurses without them being employed with them first.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
