Afternoon,

Looking at PHEV for m' next ride. On the slab are the Jag F-Pace, Velar and the 745e. Other options aren't for this post.

The purpose of this post is to get your thoughts about the BMW 7 - I kinda like it, wife doesn't. I was looking at the 745e M Sport in Dravit or Donnington, stock alloys. But it's the front grill, obviously.

What are peoples thoughts?

1. At the end of the day, I pay for it, so who cares?
2. Ugly. WTF are you doing?
3. Learn to love it?

It's ugly, yes, especially compared to the F-Pace, but ultimately your paying for it, so you do what you like, not what a bunch of randoms on the internet think.

Had to google the BMW - its gopping, especially in white

I generally like to be able to look back at my cars as I walk away and get some pleasure from the sight of the thing i own. Couldnt do that with much of BMW's current range.

But it wont be my baby, if you love it get it, if your wife hates it don't get it in any circumstance, it will be held against you for the rest of your days

I think it's imposing, sure, but not ugly (my opinion only, many will disagree). I like the shadowline grille (or whatever they call it these days, either way the black grille).

This...

Which I think looks better than this:

But having said that, I like this:

That does look pretty good. Hadn't spec'd that option!

Blue with the "shadowline" darker grill is probably the best, to reduce the proportions of the grill as much as possible

I saw a dark blue 745e this week and it didn’t strike me as being particularly ugly! Jag and Land Rover aren’t doing too well with regard reliability if that’s going to be a concern for you?

If the grill was maybe a third smaller, it'd look fine...but then one would argue it'd basically be a bigger 5 Series.

Personally I think they’re ugly, but I’ve disliked all of the 7’s since the E38.

Ultimately if you like it or are simply not bothered by the looks go it. As for your wife not liking it, forgiveness is easier to ask for than permission....biglaugh

Hi,

I am new to this part of the forum (having just sold a heavily modified Vx VXR8 Gen F GTS).

And, just ordered a new 745e Msport with Mpro pack.

I was, too, concerned about the grille, but the shadow black jobbie (being option on Mpro) and black wheels seem to be fixing things up for me. The pro pack also gives a discreet lip spoiler. All to my liking!

But do I love the looks of it? Not yet. It is less proportionate than the new 5 series, but pound for pound comes with better equipment and engine when I consider the lease deal I got on it.

Just to put things into perspective, to get a 545e it would be £28k for the 3 year agreement vs £24k for the 745e, which comes with a lot more kit as standard, and is bigger, and more comfortable, etc.

So overall happy and starting to love it (or the idea of it). It will never be a dream toy like the last car was, but it's good enough, and the rest of the feelings I am sure I will develop the moment I drive it in early June smile

We had a G12 M from new until last summer. Didn't really care what it looked like (preferred to the MB and Audi equiv) but was a great car. Nice place to cover some miles in. Lots of tech we never used (gesture accidentally most of the time) but I do miss the heated doors and console. Rear ent. was one of the few with decent quality screens. Looks never bothered me, sat under the radar which is good for a fast german.

They’re doing some good deals on these.

But, much like the 4 series, it could be £300 a month and I still just couldn’t live with that grille.

I would be buying two if they were £300 wink

PS. Just changed my order to the carbon black...

I like the LCI 7 series, imposing I'd spec it with the chrome grille as well.

It's your car who cares what other people think?

That spec, the 745e M Sport with M Sport Pro Pack, would be spot on I think. £24k over 36 months, you got that?!?! Can you ping me the broker and contact info?

Peter Vardy are offering the 745e at those rates (mileage dependant and without the MSPP) according to Leasing.com

Enjoy! I liked my pre facelift 740d xdrive, the 7 has a feeling of quality above the rest of the range.
