In Case of Emergency
Discussion
Sorry if this has already been done.
In summary you enter ICE on your mobile and stick in the name of some one you'd like to be contacted in case of emergency. Very useful espically for people like me!

Don't most people have a pin-lock on their phone? I know I do. Surely there are tried and tested ways of identifying next of kin.
I'm not really sure what the purpose of this initiative is.
I think it's for badly injured people, not dead people. With this the hospital can contact someone you know very quickly.

I know but worst case senario and you really are hurt you would want your next of kin to know. Worth a false alarm if when it happens for real they can help you and know where you are.
If your phone is stolen you can always ring your next of kin to let them know before hand.
My thinking is that I don't really want some stranger calling my fiancee or parents to tell them that I've been in a terrible accident over the telephone.
I'd rather the trained professionals (ie. police) knock on the door and break the news to them in a professional manner with the back up of all the training and support services as required. Even if it means being 'too late'.
And no, I don't think it is worth the risk of a prank call. Can you imagine what your next of kin will be going through if someone ever did this?
However, freedom of choice etc.

I agree but how are they to identify your next of kin to do this unless you give them a couple of pointers.

Granted, it may not always be easy, but I would think that unless you're swimming in your speedos, there would probably be something on your person to give clues... credit cards, membership cards, receipts, business documents, car reg, mobile phone, name sewn into soles of socks etc.
Presumably, thats how BiB normally go about things. Any BiBs around to clarify?

A credit card would be the only thing out of your list that could identify me. But if the incident hapened at night they would have to wait until morning to contact the bank
If you dont want to do it fine its just something that I think might help should the worst happen on a night out.
