Me and MrsH got stopped by the police last night. We were trying to find parking spaces near sons school. We were in seperate cars, and drove away from school cos it was packed. MrsH indicates left, I followed her. going along real steady (20mph max), and I noticed a police BMW behind me. Anyway, wife indicates left and stops, so did I. Police go past us, then pulls up. By this time I'm out of the car and talking to wife. Copper comes up to us, 'hello' says I, 'what can we do for you'. 'Well' says copper 'you obviously didnt realise, but you just turned left against a No Left Turn sign, and thats a £30 fixed penalty'. 'Bugger' says I, 'I was only following the wife, I never saw it'. 'No problem, I wont be issuing tickets, it was obviously a genuine mistake, didnt help with all those cars parked everywhere' says copper. He then went on to tell us, very politely, about the traffic problems down this particular road, and even suggested where we could park.
So, no BiB bashing here, if anyone knows a 13 year old trafpol in Winchester (or did he just look young cos I'm so old?) who can apply commonsense rather than just issue tickets at every opportunity, congratulate him on restoring my faith in the police. Unfortunately I didnt manage to get a scamera dig in, didnt think about it until he'd gone.

Not only was the copper about 13, but Toms English teacher was even younger! I thought she was one of the pupils. And his class tutor didnt appear to have started shaving yet. I'm gonna apply for a place on that Grumpy Old Men program, I think I qualify on all three counts.
