My new to me Toyota Auris has a scratch about 10cm long that goes down to the metal and has started to rust.

I would like it sorted so that the panel doesnt continue to rust.

Would a chips away type outfit sand the paint back? or do they just cover over the rust thats there?

Thanks
Ben

I would be tempted to take it to a proper bodyshop, I had a small dink that I got a 'Smart Repair' outfit to sort out, they told me colour match wouldn't be a problem, it is a problem and now will cost me three times what I paid them.
Smart repair is an oxymoron, this company had a name similar to the Goodwood Revival I'd just avoid and get it done properly. As their idea of a 'within standards' colour match is not.

Thank you.

The place i usually use burnt down a few weeks ago.
I guess i need to find a new bodywork place.

Is white an easy colour to match, or hard?

I guess if you used that company that had the fire you are use to a very high standard. You won't get that from someone on your driveway, like I say at the initial meeting to discuss my small dink colour match wasn't a problem at all according to the guy who came out. But when completed and the colour didn't match it was within acceptable standards to them but certainly not for me or anyone else looking at it.
I was recommended Cambridge in Fareham by a few local Pistonhead members so they may be worth a call.

Not necessarily. We used to have a chap who looked after our cars and who did some amazing work. Sadly he retired and the last chap we used was not nearly as good.

Hard
Any experienced painter will blend the colour same as we do with most colours
