Car travelling at high speed, fails to take a bend in the road. Two people dead. One found in the rear seat and one in the passenger seat.

It would appear the stupid idea of showing off your Autopilot function by climbing into the passenger seat is still happening.

I suppose it should be compared to how many cars crashed that did have drivers in the driving seat.

I thought Tesla had sensors on the drivers seat to make sure the driver didn’t leave the seat while driving? Autopilot would deactivate if nobody In drivers seats done after all those idiots showing off by sitting in the back when it was new.

Few scorch marks but appears fine.

More than can be said for the car or the occupants unfortunately.

Do you mean conciousness? It seems an odd thing to do if you have a conscience.

Might that have happened in this case, but by the time he realised,
it was too late for him to get back to the drivers seat in time??

Knowing how good some kids are getting at hacking, I hope they have some sort of safety built in, otherwise whats stopping a hacker sending cars crashing all over the place?

Well it is certainly peculiar. Fascinated to know if they will be able to establish the truth about this.

Is it the batteries that have caused that fire after impact?

Thats pretty scary, phones stop getting updates when a certain age, will that happen with cars meaning more are as risk.

Presumably. But rather more worrying was the fact that they kept re-igniting. Took the blaze four hours to burn out, apparently.

There are quite a few of videos on Youtube of people (idiots) letting their Tesla drive on Autopilot down the highway/road while they sit in the back seat or the passenger seat videoing it.

As far as I know there are sensors to stop this happening, but how they manage it is a mystery. I presume it gives you a certain amount of seconds to get back into the seat, or sense your weight, before it cancels Autopilot.

I'd expect so - some really scary videos on YouTube of lithium batteries burning when punctured.
