Men who kick balls about
Discussion
I keep hearing on news bulletins that the PM is going to intervene with changes to some football stuff. If some men that kick footballs about wish to kick them about with a different set of chums from normal what does it have to do with the government ? I have no understanding of the footballists or their game but really what does it matter if they choose to play ball in a different place to normal.

Elite football contributes around £!0 Billion to the UK Economy each year, so the prospect of a chunk of that revenue disappearing would be of concern to government, I reckon.steve-V8s said:

I doubt that Boris has the faintest interest in football as such, although I may be wrong. However what Boris is very interested in is being popular. This is standard Boris operating procedure. Detect something people are annoyed about, and go public with a "yes, we in government are with you, folks, we've got your back" or something. Then wait to see what the focus groups and private polling says.If it later transpires that most people think a European Super League is a great idea, Boris will be promising full government support. Have we ever had a PM with fewer principles?
I'm another one who doesn't get it.
We have some clubs which are more about business than football. That's fine. If fans don't like it, then why don't they support a club that is more to their liking?
Arsenal is just a global shirt flogging brand, the football is incidental.
As ever follow the money. These clubs have realised that the average UK football "enthusiast" contributes naff all to their bottom line. Young master Wong in Beijing spends a lot more. So be it - and the next generation of clubs can grow with the support of genuine fans.

Also league games would still be played as I understand it this is an alternative to the European Cup rather than a replacement for the legaue. But if 20 top flight euro teams joined then maybe you would see Aresnal playing in the UK less.

people travel all over the country every weekend to watch matches, plus TV revenue. And the English Premier League is a hugely successful export product shown all over the world.hyphen said:
