Eurovision 2021
Discussion
In all the excitement of coming out of lockdown I'd forgotten about this
Eurovision 2021 is back after a break last year.
It's in Rotterdam (that's in the Netherlands
)
39 Counties will attend (was to be 41 but Armenia withdrew due to social and political crises following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war and Belarus was disqualified after their intended entry was found to be in violation of the contest's rules.). A virtual beer to anyone who knows what rule(s) they broke.
Anyways. Onto our entry, James Newman with Embers. One thing I will say is look at those cars!! Anyone want to put together a list of the 9 of them?

Think About Things, Iceland’s 2020 entry was arguably one of the greatest ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFZNvj-HfBU
Our entry is James Newman who is an accomplished performer, however, due to obvious reasons we won't win, in fact i'm going to say for the next 20+ years we'll always be in no mans land, not plumb last but somewhere bottom third.
But still, i'll be getting in some awful cheesy drinks, nibbles and watching it intently.

Iceland’s delegation to the Eurovision Song Contest are self-isolating after a positive coronavirus test among the group.
The country’s entry, Daoi Freyr, is widely considered a favourite to win at this year’s event in Rotterdam with the quirky song 10 Years.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which produces the contest, said a member of the Icelandic delegation tested positive during a routine test and had gone into isolation.

king love that movie.. . and would you believe nominated for an Oscar - their performance at this year's Oscars : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UamELF1MyN0
The other week we were watching Gogglebox, not sure what show they were on about but anyway on came Steps minus one original member but replaced by a drag queen.
This was every bit as weird and horrible as it sounds, the staging was glitzy and tacky, yet the song was strangely and instantly catchy in a totally empty sort of way. I remarked to my wife that this was obviously the UK’s entry to Eurovision.
Apparently I was wrong but do think they missed a trick as it ticked a lot of Eurovision boxes. Exactly the kind of crap that people in countries with at least one z in its name would wet their pants over.
I don’t know why we bother with it really (been saying this for years), what does the UK even get out of it except shame and embarrassment?
There was a good one about 10 years or so ago. Poland I think, with a load of oiled up busty milk maids on stage. There was a video too, I checked at the time for research purposes. Doubt we’ll ever see the likes of that again.

They violated the rules by entering a song that wasn't a pile of steaming s
