Electric window problem V8S

My passenger side electric window/motor is playing up. It had stopped working, so I stripped down the door to investigate. Before I'd looked at anything it started working again. I left it for a few weeks and all was okay. Yesterday I thought about replacing the door trim and - it's packed up again.
Wiring seems in tact as far as I can see and connector block/connections although a little discoloured are not too bad. Anyone any idea where best to start looking for issues? How do you get to the wiring where it runs from door hinge area back inside car?

judging from the symptoms you describe, I would almost put money on the problem lying with the multipin connector in the door.
If you remove the door speaker, you should see the connector lying inside. Try undoing it, and giving it a good squirt with an electrical restorative spray - or WD-40 if nothing else. Push the two halves together a couple of times to 'clean' off any oxidisation on the pins and sockets.
Worked on mine a few months back!

I also had this very problem recently. I found that the wiring inside the door had been positioned (by some fool!) in such a way that when the drop glass was at the bottom it was pressing on the coil of wiring and stressing a single connector. I simply lubed up the connectors and repositioned wiring under the speaker well away from the drop glass, problem solved. I didnt even take off the door card can do it all through the speaker hole.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've WD-40'd the connectors and reassembled wiring. Window still wouldn't play ball, however as has happened previously, a quick spin around the block and the window moves up and down again. The window is often stuck when the car is stationary (ignition off), but when driving along it works again. It's looking like a loose/broken wire somewhere - but where?
