I couldn't help noticing some interesting changes to Lee's race car. The above stunning picture was taken at the June Britcar meeting at Brands hatch.
Apart from the obvious increase in front and rear track width, the windscreen seems to be held on by a series of metal plates. These were not present on the car at previous Britcar events. Their alos appears to be some extra bracing struts inside the cockpit to beef up the roll cage.
Presumably the fibreglass body shell is flexing enough to cause the windscreen to come loose and the fixing plates are there to prevent the windscreen falling out.
Does anyone have any views on this?
Regards
Steve.

amg Merc is correct: the clips retaining the front screen have nothing to do with body flex, they are only there so that it can be removed quickly for maintenance.
The beefier cage inside the cabin is mandatory in this class of racing.

The M14 will be available early next year and it is this car that will have an in-line drivetrain.

So no plans for an M12 mk2 then? Is there a reason why Lee's race car was registered as an M12 mk2?
It can't make any financial sense to have 2 different drive trains going into the same chassis requiring different mounting points etc? Especially when the longditudal engine allows a lower CoG (even more so with dry sumping) and to have the major mass further forward towards the centre of the car.

I can see Nathan is thinking about swopping the CSL for a Noble M12 MK2 already!
BTW, I stopped at Porsche ++++++++++++(edited to delete) today as there was a lovely 05 plate GT3 in black on the forecourt. The salesman came out and instantly started treating the situation as if it was a car that I couldn't afford. (must have seen the Chrysler
)
I told him I was thinking about a GT3 or possibly a Noble and he launched into slag off Noble Mode. Telling me that their showroom manager chap who is a great driver had taken out the top Noble Director in a GT3 and that the Noble bloke was blown away saying that the Noble was far inferior to a GT3 and that he had never experienced such amazing handeling!!
I thought at the same time that I might have stood in a dog pooh as I swear I could smell

I was trying to keep that quiet!!
Truth is that I couldn't afford it anyway but he didn't know that!!
He also said that under normal driving conditions, the ceramic brakes should last for 200,000 miles!!
Wow, might get some on the Voyager!!
£70 for a 4k miler seemed a bit steep. How much are they new?

OPC East London offered me first refusal on that car before it went on general availability. Its an ex Porsche UK car (probably management). With that spec it was 82k new. I was told I could have it for high 60s.
Those ceramics are a complete liability though as they die on track days. They also cost 5k each to replace, or 3k if you trade in the old disc. Not good when they only last 30% longer on track than steels that are 500 a pair.

I heard ceramics lasted a few '000 miles before cracking and that many owners were reverting back to steel discs for an £1800 swap cost (which is not pleasing them at all!) - I think I heard tht ceramic replacement cost was something like £8,000!
