Hi All

Appreciate your assistance.

I am changing employers, and having to hand back my trusty ThinkPad which I connected to two screens by way of a dock. All works really well.

However, the new employer is issuing a HP X360 G4 EliteBook, and I am struggling to find what options I have to connect this to 2 screens (and increase the number of USB ports I guess).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

Either that or HDMI to one monitor and USB-C to another

Thanks - spoke to HP - they have the G5 dock, but not only is it expensive, it won't give what I need it seems.

I have 2 screens, both HP by coincidence, but they only have HDMI and some kind of milt pin connect (VGA?).

Looks like I need to go for a more generic third party dock, and hope that it all works OK (bearing in mind that I will be able to download drivers)?

Get a dock from Amazon. £80 or so. Will work fine, likely won’t even need drivers downloading (not manually anyway, win 10
Will do it for you)

I don’t know why anyone spends the money on an oem dock

Many thanks. Any suggestions? I need to connect 2 screens that only have HDMI and VGA, and at least 4 USB ports.

Cheers

I bought one of these, if all you want is two screens and USB ports, it did the job https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085ZNBSGN

I ended up sending it back and buying a 2nd hand OEM dock as I couldn't cope with the low refresh rates.

If you want to be sure not to need drivers, then something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Syntech-Thunderbolt-Compa... and a USB hub ? You've already got a standard HDMI port haven't you?

What does your employer's IT team suggest/have tested? They're paid (I hope) to answer these kinds of questions.

You can use a display port to hdmi adaptor. You can also get cables with DP at one end and HDMI at the other.

The G5 dock has 1 hdmi and 2 display port outputs I think. If your employer is providing the laptop can’t they also supply the dock?

This looks like a good idea, thanks.

As for the employer providing the dock - local authority, so a firm no!
