RIP Jim, a real giant in rock. He and his song writing/production style will be missed.

I love his style of over the top music- not really matched by anyone else.

This - I think his style became a little disparaged over the years, but no-one did everything-including-the-kitchen-sink production like him. Bat Out Of Hell remains a colossus of production and detail, a superb collection of teenage mini-operas all brilliantly conceived and executed.

RIP.

Sad news RIP

I'm one of the few people that bought his album Bad for Good, which he released after Meat Loaf and him had a falling out.

You took the words right out of my mouth.......

Went to see Meat Loaf live once. Although it's a touch "soft rock" for my taste the show was absolutely immense

If it was Boyzone, that would be understandable...

Read today that Total Eclipse of the Heart was written for Meat Loaf but his record label were too tight to pay for it! The Bonnie Tyler album which Steinman produced isn’t too shabby.

RIP

Me too, this track is still fantastic...

Edited to ad, didn’t most of the tracks end up on later Meat Loaf albums too?

I thought 'Deadringer' was a massively under-rated album; probably overlooked due to the astonishing success of 'Bat Out Of Hell'... and the fact it took a few years to get around to completing.

The single was great, too - loved seeing the video with Cher in her sleazy glory on TOTPs.
