A generation from what i understand is each set of offspring you have:-

for example

You 1st generation
your Kids 2nd Generation
Your Kids Kids 3rd generation

and so on
there is no finite limit to how long a generation can be is just a number used to either say how many levels of parents and parents parents are alive

forexample
in my family at the moment there are 4 generations alive

My parents Parents (1)
My Parents (2)
ME (3)
My son (4)

so 4 generations alive. hope this helps

I would put that down to the older people i.e. parents age writing about what we do. or what we act like.

its one of those quotes that people use and can be taken in many ways...

I think a generation has always been used to express an arbitrary period of time. I suppose it depends on the expected age of a mother in the period of history.

So if the average mother was 20, then a generation would be 20 years.

This period became shorter during and immediately after WW1 and WW2 as procreation became a major imperative but as time moved on, the period lengthened during the 60s and 70s towards 30 years.

Tragically, with the rate of teenage births today, the figure is erring plane crash style towards 15.

Sounds like one of those magical moving numbers that statisticians can use to helpfully prove any point they so wish.

Generation is routinely defined as 25 years

But any other definition is probably just as useful. Avergae mothers age is ok but will change constantly, so a guess is just as good

33 going on 18 BTW

PS Carzee, teenage mothers can be ofset by the odd nutter Granny who wants IVF @ 70
