Pad colours and dimpled / smooth
Discussion
Hi all. I’m having a go at machine polishing a snotter tomorrow. I have a recommended cutting / finishing compound to use with a machine polisher. I then plan to use auto fitness tripple to finish off. The foam pads I have., some are dimpled and some flat foam. Orange, yellow, blue and red. I plan to cut with dimpled orange, then use a cloth to shine. Question is....do I use a flat foam pad to polish after or a different coloured dimpled one? Then I’ll use a microfibre cloth to complete. Am I on the right track?
And are the pads washable post application?
Thanks in advance!!
Mike

Use the hardest foam pad to cut and softest to finish. Makes no difference if it's dimpled or smooth. Some use a dimpled/hex pattern to manage heat, or just for marketing.
Run them under a warm tap when youre done to clean all the polish out. Best not to let them sit for days after you've finished if you plan on using them again.

I'd recommend washing the straight out after finished with that pad especially if you have a warmish sunny day as they soon dry out in the sunRun them under a warm tap when youre done to clean all the polish out.
