The time has come to get a new desktop I think. This is getting slower and more unresponsive by the day!

Currently have Dell Inspiron 620, Intel Core i5 2310 with 6GB of RAM.

I'm not a gamer. I use it to browse the internet, watch YouTube and Netflix etc.

I saw a Dell i5 10400, with 8GB of RAM and a 256 SSD in the outlet for £410.

Then I looked ion eBAy and there seems to be a few shops selling thousands of Gaming PCs with similar spec for around £250.

Anyone got any tips?

I think I want an SSD included.

Don't need monitor.

I'm looking at this specifically.

You could just upgrade the RAM in your current desktop and stick a SSD in. £50 would probably do it and get another couple of years useful life out it if you are just doing basic tasks and no gaming/4K video editing.

Guessing from the prices the eBay Gaming PCs will be about the same spec as yours, just with an SSD and a graphics card put in them. The Dell will be a much faster PC with much more life left in it.

This would be my option too if you are comfortable changing parts and can install windows. Installing win10 is pretty simple, the most painful part is all the questions about whether it can spy on you or not.

You could try sticking Linux on it.

Whats your usage? have you looked at task manager to see whats causing it? has the old machine got HDD or SSD?

ram and SSD upgrade might keep it going.
